What is Onederland?

Onederland is weight-loss slang for weighing under 200 pounds: the first time the scale shows a number that starts with a 1. If you weigh in kilograms, the matching line is 100 kg, the day the scale drops from three digits to two.

Where the word comes from

It's a play on Wonderland: one-derland, the land of weights that start with a one. The word is widely used in weight-loss communities, on forums and social media, where people share the first time they see a number below 200.

Why 200 pounds?

Because it's where the scale's first digit changes, from 2 to 1. Nothing medical happens at 200 pounds. What changes is how the number reads, and for many people that's when the progress starts to feel real.

Onederland in kilograms

The word plays on pounds, so it has no fixed kilogram version. The nearest round line is 100 kg: under it, the scale shows two digits instead of three. That's the kilogram Onederland on this site and in the app, and the line follows the unit you weigh in.

How people celebrate it

There's no one way to mark it. Some people post a photo of the scale, or a “Welcome to Onederland” message in a group that has followed their progress. Others make or buy a card, plan a small reward, or write the date somewhere they'll see it.

And some tell no one. A milestone you keep to yourself still counts.

Make an Onederland card

The Onederland card studio makes a “Welcome to Onederland” card in your browser, with no account and no upload. A card shows no weight unless you add one, and it never names a medicine.

If you'd like a slower countdown, print the Onederland coloring tracker and color a circle for every pound or kilogram on the way.

A milestone, not a verdict

Weight moves both ways, and a number on a scale is only one way to see change. If you go back over the line, nothing is taken away: the day you crossed it still happened.

About the Onederland app

Onederland is also the name of our iPhone and iPad app for tracking GLP-1 medicines alongside weight, food, sleep and activity. Progress draws the line on your weight chart. The first weigh-in under it, after one at or above it, opens Welcome to Onederland, with Keep going and a way to share the moment if you want to. It happens once, and switching units never repeats or takes it back.

You don't need the app to reach Onederland, or to make a card.

Questions

About Onederland, the milestone

Does exactly 200 pounds count?

No. Onederland means under the line: 199.9 pounds counts, and 200.0 doesn't. The app compares your weight as it's shown, to one decimal.

I weigh in kilograms. What's my Onederland?

Under 100 kilograms. The app draws the line at 100 kg when you use kilograms, and 99.9 kg counts while 100.0 doesn't.

Why do people post “Welcome to Onederland”?

It's a way to share a milestone that's hard to explain anywhere else. People in weight-loss communities know what the phrase means, so three words say it all.

How do I make a Welcome to Onederland card?

Open the card studio, pick a card and a style, then save the image or share it. It's free, it needs no account, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

What if my goal is above 200 pounds?

Then your goal is your milestone. The card studio has a “My goal” card, and the Onederland app celebrates reaching your own goal, wherever it is.

Does the app celebrate it?

Yes, once: Welcome to Onederland opens with your weight, Keep going and Share.

Is Onederland a health target?

No. It's a round number on the scale, not a medical goal. Nothing medical happens at 200 pounds or at 100 kilograms.
